Virginia Readers' Choice is sponsored by the VIRGINIA STATE READING ASSOCIATION in conjunction with the VIRGINIA EDUCATION MEDIA ASSOCIATION, and the VIRGINIA LIBRARY ASSOCIATION.  
 
The purpose of the special selection is to encourage young readers "to become better acquainted with contemporary books with outstanding literary appeal...."
